Technique is the best!

In the 2022/2023 school year, ETI paid special attention to cooperation with educational institutions - primary schools, secondary technical schools and technical faculties.

Students in the 3rd triad of primary school are already starting to think about their future career path. The growing need for experts in technical professions requires closer cooperation between companies and educational institutions. At ETI, we actively cooperate with schools and colleges, open our doors to pupils and students to visit the company, present technical professions and participate in optional content, fairs and information days. The growing interest of teachers and professors in visiting our company further confirms this cooperation. During the visit, we present the company, production and sales program, modern machines and devices. By getting to know the work process, they are able to present students with future professions and inspire them to enroll in technical schools and colleges.

This year, together with two former students of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Vid Čarman and Mitja Brkopec, we successfully encouraged elementary school students from Zagorje elementary schools and Tom Brejc Elementary School in Kamnik to explore electronics with robotics.

At Ivan Kavčič Elementary School in Izlak, students explored electronics with robotics as an interesting activity that took place weekly, and 10-13 students regularly participated in the activity. They started with soldering learning and development boards, before the New Year's holidays they made Christmas trees, continued with drawing electrical diagrams and designing printed materials for new products. The next challenge was to make a three-in-a-row game, and before the end of the school year, the students assembled a robot car, where they used their knowledge of soldering techniques, and they also had to assemble the construction for the car themselves. A few students expressed their desire to program a robot car, which they would implement already during the summer vacation.

Also at the Tone Okrogar primary school, the students got excited about electronics with robotics as an interesting activity. The six students quickly mastered the basics of soldering and finished soldering the boards surprisingly quickly. When they finished assembling the circuits, they continued with the soldering of the New Year's Christmas tree, which was also their last product. The great interest in continuing the activity is also shown in the desire of the students to continue with the soldering of the three-in-a-row game in the month of September.

In Tom Brejc Kamnik elementary school, they decided to implement electronics with robotics as an optional subject for 9th grade students. They started work in September 2022, and the course was held every other week. 11 students were enrolled. First, they made a New Year's Christmas tree, and after soldering it, the boards were connected. The next exercise took place in the computer, where the students drew an astable multivibrator, they made a three-in-a-row game, and just before the end of the year they made a resistive cube. The robot car will "solder" with the next generation.

The reaction of the students was very positive everywhere, the boys are very motivated, teachable and bright. Kudos also go to the mentors/teachers who were of great support to the students in learning technical skills. Their enthusiasm and willingness to continue with these activities next school year was truly inspiring.
