Introduction

PV surge arrestors, also known as surge protective devices (SPDs), are critical for safeguarding photovoltaic (PV) systems from overvoltage events caused by lightning strikes or other electrical disturbances. These devices are designed to limit the voltage and divert the surge current away from sensitive PV equipment, such as solar panels and inverters, thus preventing damage and ensuring the long-term reliability of the system.

Thermal Disconnection: Each arrester is equipped with thermal protection, which disconnects it from the electrical network in case of exceeding the permissible value.

Visual Indication: A visual indicator shows the status of the varistor, with a green flag indicating normal operation and a red flag indicating damage.

Remote Signaling (RC): Some models include remote signaling contacts for monitoring the status of the arrester.

Mounting: All models are designed for easy mounting on a 35 mm DIN rail.

Housing Material: Made of thermoplastic with an extinguishing degree of UL 94 V-0.

Our product line includes the ETITEC series of surge arrestors, designed to provide comprehensive protection for PV systems. The series includes Type 1+2 and Type 2 surge arrestors.

This series is designed to protect against both direct and indirect lightning discharges and is intended for use in PV systems. It features a circuit topology consisting of three varistor stages, each protected by a thermal disconnection device.

Surge Ratings:
- ETITEC M T12 PV: Total discharge current (ITotal) up to 12.5 kA (10/350 μs) and up to 60 kA (8/20 μs).
- ETITEC EM T12 PV: Total discharge current (ITotal) up to 6.25 kA (10/350 μs) and up to 65 kA (8/20 μs).
Mode of Protection: (+) - PE, (-) - PE, (+) - (-).
Installation: These arresters should be applied on the string and inverter side of the PV system. If the distance between the string and inverter is less than 10 meters, only one ETITEC arrester is needed.
Voltage Protection Level (Up): Less than 3.8 kV or 5 kV, depending on the model.
Response Time (tA): Less than 25 ns.
Operating Temperature Range (Ta): -40°C to +85°C.
Permissible Operating Humidity (RH): 5% to 95%.

This series is designed to protect against indirect lightning discharges in PV systems. The circuit topology consists of two or three varistor stages, each protected by a thermal disconnection device.

- Remote signaling (RC version only).
- DIN rail mounting (EN 60715).
- MOV varistor as the protective element.
- Metal snapper for easier mounting on DIN rail.

Surge Ratings: Total discharge current (ITotal) up to 20 kA or 50 kA (8/20 μs).
Mode of Protection: (+) - PE, (-) - PE, (+) - (-).
Installation: Similar to the T12 series, T2 arresters are installed on both the string and inverter sides of the PV system. If the distance between the string and inverter is less than 10 m, one ETITEC device is enough.

Difference between ETITEC M T2 PV and ETITEC EM T2 PV: ETITEC EM T2 PV is the economic version without a module latching mechanism, and is distinguishable from ETITEC M T2 PV by the grey color of the ETI logo.

This series of overvoltage surge protective devices has been developed to protect against direct and indirect discharges, and is intended for new generation of PV inverters with an output voltage of 800V AC (line voltage).

- Discharge capacity – Iimp 12,5 kA and Imax up to 50 kA.

This series protects new generation PV network inverters with an output voltage of 800V (line voltage). The circuit topology consists of three or four parallel-connected varistor modules, with each pole equipped with a visual indication.

- Maximum Discharge Current (Imax): 40 kA.
